The climate is mild in winter and hot during the summer. Winter temperatures range from an average of 0°C early in the morning to 24°C at noon. Summer temperatures range from an average of 12°C early in the morning to 33°C at noon. The humidity is very low throughout the year, making the noon temperatures easily bearable year-round.

The rainy season lasts from late January to the end of April, with rainfall varying from as little as 20mm in the desert to over 1000mm in the subtropical northern parts of Namibia. The average rainfall in central Namibia is between 250 and 350mm annually.
